Corrany finished fifth last night in the three mile handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter.  Although outpaced early on, Finn Lambert reported that he stayed on well enough in the straight to think he will be competitive for us once dropping down in grade.

Hopefully we can find a suitable race for him once he has been re-evaluated by the handicapper and it would be great to win some prize money with him over the summer for his sporting owners, the Carbine Club of London.

The Club had their annual Lords lunch yesterday in the Long Room at the home of cricket and it was great to listen to guests Graham Gooch, Mike Gatting and Monty Panesar to discuss the brilliance of the late Shane Warne.

The lunch was dedicated to the Australian sporting icon, the like of which we will not see again.  It was great to see so many wonderful people in attendance in such a special setting and once again the Club were able to make money for a great cause in the ‘Professional Cricketers’ Trust’.

Racing has had a long association with many of the greats in cricket with many players very keen on racing along with a punt.  The Adlestrop Club are having our annual charity cricket match on Sunday 28th August at our beautiful local ground . Please put the date in your diary as this year we will be having a charity lunch in aid of Racing Welfare and we will soon be announcing more details of what will hopefully be a special day.
