Racing Groom / Work Rider
A NEW YEAR, A NEW START?!
Fancy a change of scenery? A new direction or to get back doing what you once loved?
Richard Phillips Racing is recruiting for a RACING GROOM to join our special team.
Are you experienced in the horse racing industry and a confident rider of racehorses?
Or do you have experience in other equine disciplines and are interested in finding out what the wonderful world of horse racing can offer you?
Would you love nothing more than to get back into the racing game?
Then please APPLY!
At Richard Phillips Racing, we will give you plenty of coaching and support, as well as further opportunities to develop and learn if you’d like to progress.
Perhaps you need flexible working hours to work around your family? We will do our best to make the job is as suitable for you as possible.
We are looking for someone who ideally rides well, will look after our horses with great care and carry out all usual stable duties to the highest level.
Someone who is conscientious, a team player and gets on with what needs doing (rather than hiding in a stable until someone else does).
Someone who has a sense of humour, doesn’t mind a bit of swearing at times and ideally is an excellent cake maker and willing to share.
Alternatively if four legs isn’t your thing but two wheels are, we also have a yard person position available. There is not much sweeping involved as we have a super duper blowing machine!
What we can offer you:
We have 35 lovely racehorses in residence, mostly jumpers but we also like the flat – with many of them showing talent on our fabulous gallops and with a fantastic beginning to 2019, there should be plenty of winners ahead for the coming season and beyond.
We are a small team and you will be valued and appreciated. We will even help you celebrate your birthday – there will be cake and candles involved.
We offer an excellent salary and a safe, professional working environment, in a beautiful location.
We also have onsite accommodation if required.
Rides could possibly potentially be available for the right candidate and if you are the next AP or Dicky Johnson, you may be given the opportunity to give our resident claimer, Danny ‘The Biscuit’ Hiskett a run for his money.
Adlestrop Stables is a fantastic place to work but don’t take our word for it – this year we have been awarded three stars and reached the final of the Lycetts Team Champion Award – proving that Richard Phillips Racing is a GREAT place to work.
So if you can ride racehorses, (or push a wheelbarrow) have a sense of humour, are happy to roll your sleeves up and work hard and are not offended by the occasional swearing, please do be in touch.
P.S. If we don’t find anyone soon, Richard is once again threatening to come out of retirement, dig out his old jods and prove if it wasn’t for his heavy bones, AP’s record would have been in danger!
Please contact us with details of your previous experience, if you would like to join our fun, friendly team.
