Organdi ran a wonderful third at Cartmel on Monday in the veterans chase.  Given a fine ride by Adam Wedge, she hit the front before the home straight and stayed on well giving plenty of weight to the first and second.

The course is unique and was not entirely to her liking but once again she gave her owners, the Beautiful People syndicate, a real buzz with ground conditions in her favour.

If you have not visited Cartmel racecourse yet you have definitely missed out.  The combination of a beautiful village, fascinating priory and a relaxed, friendly picnic atmosphere brings out the best in people.

Urban Champion ran a very pleasing fourth at Leicester yesterday.  A bit too keen early on under Tom Marquand – he took up the running two furlongs out and his early exertions led to him staying on at one pace in the final furlong.  Tom thought that possibly stepping back to a mile at this stage in his career would be a good move as he learns to settle with more experience on the track.  We look forward to him winning plenty of races for his enthusiastic owners Hunscote Stud.

Hunscote Stud have a homebred running in the Oaks on Friday in Caernarvon who was fourth in the 1000 Guineas.  Hopefully she will once again show plenty of talent.  Interestingly the second favourite, Soul Sister, was bred in our next door village at Daylesford.  Not that far from Hunscote near Wellesbourne and with another local homebred in Running Lion of David Howden’s – it is wonderful to see British breeders being rewarded for their passion and investment.
