Corrany looked like running well at Worcester on Friday evening but unfortunately the race was made void turning for home. He normally finishes well up the Worcester straight and it would have been interesting to see how he would have got on. Hopefully we can return to the course soon to recompense.
Elfride was travelling and jumping well at Uttoxeter yesterday before making an uncustomary error which gave Sean Bowen very little chance of staying in the saddle. She appears fine and we plan to take up a similar opportunity at the track in the next week or two.
Off to Cartmel today to saddle Organdi in the three-mile five furlongs veterans chase. The course is an unusual one but hopefully Organdi will cope well with conditions. Adam Wedge rides and if the race doesn’t come too soon after her Aintree run we hope she will give another exciting run to her enthusiastic syndicate.
Urban Champion is declared in the mile and a quarter three-year-old handicap at Leicester tomorrow. He showed much promise on his handicap debut and Tom Marquand takes the ride. If he settles well, he should put up another pleasing display for his owner/breeders Hunscote Stud.
As ever an exciting end to the Premiership season with inevitable disappointment and relief for various clubs. However it also marks the end of Jeff Stelling’s truly remarkable career at Sky Sports. He is a legend of the broadcasting world and hopefully he will have more time to go racing now. It’s thirty years since our first winner together and is a member of Organdi’s syndicate. Let’s hope winners continue to flow well into his retirement.
