Off to Worcester today to saddle Corrany in the 4.40pm.  Hoping a return to chase fences brings about some improvement.  He definitely has plenty of ability and jockey Finn Lambert thinks that the slower pace of the race will help him over the bigger obstacles.  The Carbine Club of London have been immensely patient with him and let us hope he can give us a pleasing run today.

Very sad news that racing legend Jim Wilson passed away on Monday.  Undoubtedly one of the sport’s greatest characters, his achievements were immense.  Riding a Gold Cup winner, being leading Festival rider and training Festival winners is something no normal man would possibly achieve.

Jim was not normal – he was wonderful company, beautifully opinionated, thoughtful and kind with bundles of talent.  He told me recently that staying as an amateur due to inevitable weight problems had he turned professional, led him to ride so many talented horses.

Having spent some time with him over the last few months, I know he was very appreciative of the fortune he had received during his busy and fascinating life.

Thoughts are with Melinda and all his family and his multitude of friends that like me, will miss Jimbo’s huge contribution to our lives.
