Corrany pleased everyone with his excellent second at Worcester on Wednesday. Appreciating the return to fences, he was under pressure turning for home but stayed on very well up the straight to be a fast finishing second behind the in-form favourite.
Hopefully he will now head back to Worcester on 12th September in a conditional jockeys handicap chase. The Carbine Club of London have been very patient with him and we look forward to Corrany winning for us soon. Finn Lambert has always kept faith in him and gave him a fine ride.
We are not due to have any entries next week but hopefully a few the week after as finally we have some rain. The string look very well and most are on target to be fit and ready to go in October.
Delighted to join owner Lizzie Prowting at the Bucks County Show yesterday. It is the first time it has been held since covid and it’s always a great day out. Although the ground was too firm for the show jumping, there were many attractions to keep visitors interested. It was especially pleasing to see so many young people involved with the pursuits the countryside as to offer.
Moreton-in-Marsh Show takes place tomorrow, which is another immensely popular occasion. Never has the countryside needed more support and by supporting this country shows we are spreading the word of all the countryside has to offer and it’s immense contribution to the British economy and culture.
Normally I would meet up with John O’Neill at the Bucks County Show but sadly he passed away recently and his funeral was held yesterday. A great character who enjoyed all the good things in life, including horseracing and laughing. He will be much missed.
