Aajej ran a very pleasing debut for the yard at Ascot on Friday, travelling nicely in mid-division and staying on up the Ascot straight. He took the preliminaries well and appears to enjoy his new routine at Adlestrop and gave owner Adam Jeavons a memorable day at the Berkshire track. The plan is to return to Ascot on the Saturday of the Royal meeting for the Queen Alexandra Stakes. Having a runner at Royal Ascot has always been one of Adam’s ambitions and hopefully we will be able to help him fulfil his dream.
Six Blue had her third flat run at Wolverhampton last night and ran with great credit. Hopefully she will be given a realistic handicap mark to help her be competitive in such events. Although by Blue Bresil, she has an excellent flat pedigree and appeared to be suited by the distance she ran over yesterday and we look forward to her racing on the all-weather and the turf in the coming weeks and months.
Willow Edge made a respiratory noise under Tom Bellamy in the last half mile of her novice hurdle run at Southwell. We will investigate this and possibly run her in a tongue tie in the future as she has plenty of ability and pleased us on her debut at Stratford.
We have two entries at Uttoxeter on Saturday with Manalishi and Sumatran Tiger. Manalishi has shown plenty of promise in each of his races and was a running on second at Market Rasen last time out. Hopefully the ground will be safe enough for him to take his chance. Whilst Sumatran Tiger has had a wind operation and has been waiting for the better ground. She is a dual Jersey Derby winner and loves her jumping and we look forward to her starting her summer season.
I attended the memorial service of Caroline Brooks in Churchill on Saturday. Mother to Charlie, Caroline was a remarkable force for good and her family did her proud relaying many stories of her unique life. Intelligent, gifted and a thoroughly good egg, she will be remembered by many for the incredible example she set.
