Sheila Nash ran a cracker to finish third in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at Hereford on Monday. Given a fine ride by Oscar Palmer, she travelled sweetly behind the leaders and jumped with great proficiency on the whole. She stayed on nicely after the last behind two well-handicapped opposition.
Hopefully we can find a similar event for her in the coming weeks on ground that is not too soft and it surprised many that the Hereford ground was good to firm in places. Owners Chris and Carol Nash have been very patient with the mare and it would be a wonderful day for everyone if we could get her head in front again.
A pleasing work morning yesterday as we build up for runners once ground conditions suit. Totterdown is entered at Sandown and Lingfield as we look for the softest ground possible knowing that he can travel and jump on a softer surface better than most.
The Carbine Club of London have been great supporters of the yard and on Monday evening it was their AGM. Delighted to sit next to owner Alan Halsall for what was a very pleasant evening with several of our owners. We were entertained with a very amusing speech by the ever popular Mike Cattermole.
Thrilled to accompany owner Lizzie Prowting last night to the launch of Jilly Cooper’s new book ‘Tackle’, in Piccadilly. Jilly is a wonderful friend to us having been a winning owner in the past and if we could have half the energy of both Lizzie and Jilly, the world would be a better place.
As many of you know we train in the most beautiful village and we are always pleased to help both the church and the village hall as they are vital parts of our community. With the hall having hosted many wonderful events for our stables, we would love as many of our supporters as possible to attend an ‘Auction of Promises’ on Friday 24th November.
It is an ideal opportunity to have some fun and at the same time, raise money for two worthy causes. Details below. We have some excellent items for the auction to suit all budgets which we will publicise next week.
