Sheila Nash (pictured) runs today in the 12.50pm at Hereford – the three miles one furlong, conditional jockeys handicap hurdle. We were pleased with her last run at Worcester which was her first since having a wind operation. Oscar Palmer takes the ride who has shown much promise in the saddle and is attached to Alan King’s yard. Amazingly the ground is good, good to firm in places but hopefully Sheila will put up a competitive run in what looks an open race.
Totterdown has a few options and as soon as we find conditions and opposition in his favour, we look forward to him making his seasonal debut.
It was great to welcome the Richard Phillips Racing Syndicate to the gallops on Saturday to see their promising Malinas four-year-old. We very much look forward to following his development over the next few months and look forward to finding a suitable name for him soon.
The Breeders Cup was once again fascinating viewing with, as predicted – the Europeans making the most of their opportunities. Auguste Rodin was given an opportunist ride by the ever cool Ryan Moore, whilst Inspiral was inspired by a late Dettori flourish. It was wonderful to see Mick Appleby train Big Evs to win the juvenile sprint and it was a meeting worthy of its fortieth year celebration.
