Off to Wolverhampton today with Baron Wagstaff (pictured) running in the mile and a half handicap at 7.42pm.  Rab Havlin is booked to ride and this three-year-old son of Ulysses has been treated for gastric ulcers since his last run and hopefully this will bring about some improvement as he showed promise on his debut.

Six Blue was right on the heels of the leaders turning for home at Wolverhampton on Friday evening.  Callum Hutchinson reported that she just changed her legs in the final furlong and would probably be better going right handed.  We will look for a suitable race for her in the coming weeks.  On this run, she certainly has the ability to win races and reward her owner Colin Pocock’s patience.

Talking Bear broke from the stalls rather efficiently at Newcastle on Saturday and therefore made the running in the six furlong maiden.  Although this was not ‘plan a’ Jonny Peate said he got into a nice rhythm in front to quicken well two furlongs out only to fade in the final half furlong to finish four lengths behind the highly rated winner.  He would have learned plenty from this experience and undoubtedly has ability and we will look for another race over seven furlongs in the coming weeks.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and as is customary these days, I spent the day in Jersey with owner Bunny Roberts.  Delighted to once again support her charity golf day in aid of Racing Welfare with owners Ed Ware and Charlie Allan.  As a team we dove tailed quite well and only just missed out on the prizes in fourth place.

It is always a fun trip and the irrepressible Bunny has been running the event for many years and raised thousands for good causes. A fun time for all and a profitable one for the charity.
