Fighting Poet ideally needs a bigger field to be seen at his best at Brighton and we have now entered him at Epsom on Wednesday in the race he has been runner up in the past.
Dora Vita didn’t appreciate Brighton’s idiosyncrasies and we will now look for a race over a mile on a flatter track, possibly on the all-weather where she has shown the ability to be competitive.
Baron Wagstaff was declared at Leicester yesterday but with the yard in a red weather alert area we were unable to travel and he will now be aimed for Nottingham on Thursday.
We schooled Tech That and Elfride this morning with Harry Atkins onboard. They are both entered in the two and a half mile handicap chase at Worcester on Wednesday, although both could do with a longer trip to be seen at their best.
We also have Express Train (pictured) entered on Thursday at Kempton and Newbury and we look forward to him making his debut for us having been purchased earlier in the year. He has the option of six or seven furlongs and we look forward to finding out more about him.
This week is ‘Racing Staff Week’ and in this hot weather the team have been, as ever, incredibly dedicated with very early starts in order to get the horses out in the coolest conditions possible. Tonight they will have their annual treat of their boss cooking a bbq for them and hopefully they will all be well enough to be at work tomorrow morning.
