We have declared Elfride and The Last Drop (pictured) at Warwick and Southwell tomorrow. Elfride might have been in season the last time she ran and although the ground will probably be too soft for her at Warwick, there are not many opportunities for her at present. She won well at Uttoxeter earlier in the season and Ciaran Gethings takes the ride. She looks very well in her coat and will hopefully run well in what looks a competitive contest although not a large field.
The Last Drop makes her debut for us having shown promise in bumpers in Ireland. A daughter of Mahler, she has a nice pedigree and although not the biggest she has pleased us in her homework and will hopefully continue to show promise with Finn Lambert onboard. We look forward to her giving her owners The Littles, plenty of fun in the coming seasons.
Ned Cash was very free on the way to the start at Huntingdon on Monday and ran with his choke out throughout the race which lead to him jumping poorly in the process. Finn wisely pulled him up turning for home and we will now resort to a hood and use more waiting tactics on his next run. He has shown plenty of promise at home and in his bumpers and hopefully will have his career back on course soon.
Very sad to hear of the death of promising jockey Stefano Cherchi in Australia. He was a very popular guy when based in Newmarket and it proves once again what a dangerous occupation riding is and our sympathies go out to his family and friends.
