We have two runners this evening at Wolverhampton with Baron Wagstaff (pictured) in the 7.32pm and Manton Road in the 8.42pm. Baron Wagstaff steps up in trip in the mile and a half handicap having been outpaced on ground too firm for him at Nottingham last time out. Hopefully he will appreciate the more consistent going this evening.
Manton Road has been in good form but this is a step up in class from his previous races and we try cheekpieces instead of blinkers this evening. Dropping down in trip, hopefully there will be plenty of pace on and he can take advantage of the leaders coming back to him in the straight. Jonny Peate rides both and hopefully they will both put up pleasing performances.
We have flat entries at the beginning of next week including Dora Vita at Windsor, Express Train at Lingfield and Talking Bear at Kempton. With the ground so firm at present, we do not have any summer jumpers this year so the three week jumping break will not really affect us.
