Elfride (pictured) runs at Worcester today in the three mile handicap chase run at 6.27pm.  This is her second attempt over chase fences having run on very soft ground at Uttoxeter which did not suit her.  Hopefully the ground will be safe enough for her to run today and she has schooled well with Harry Atkins onboard recently.   She has proven she has the ability to run well in a race like this.

Manton Road ran with great credit at Lingfield on Monday.  With no pace on,  Kieren Fox decided to go forward on him and very nearly stole the race being clear at the furlong marker.  However he was just touched off in the final fifty yards.  Kieren suggested taking the headgear off him in future and we will look for something suitable in the coming weeks as he appears in good form.

We have entries next week for Fighting Poet, Six Bue and Dora Vita and hopefully we can find suitable opportunities for them.

Congratulations to Joe Fanning on a fantastic riding career as he announced his retirement this week.  Joe and I worked together at Henry Candy’s nearly four decades ago and he has always been a great sportsman, a great man and a great competitor.  In many ways his career has been exemplary and we look forward to him enjoying being part of the racing scene in a different role.
