Manton Road (pictured) runs this evening at Lingfield in the one mile classified run at 7.40pm. He ran with great credit last week at Wolverhampton when a very pleasing second to a young improving type and hopefully he can be competitive again this evening.
Six Blue was unable to quicken off a slow pace in the straight at Kempton on Wednesday and probably needs a bit further to be seen at her best. On her previous runs she looks well capable of winning and would appreciate some cut in the ground when it eventually comes.
We have Tech That and Elfride entered at Worcester on Thursday in the three mile handicap chase. Both could do with better ground but we will make a decision in the morning about their participation.
Sad to hear of the death of Sean Magee. Sean was a great supporter of the Adlestrop Club having hosted memorable evenings for us on the subjects of Arkle, Lester Piggott and Sir Peter O’Sullevan and played the piano brilliantly at Royal Adlestrop.
Sean was a world-renowned author and publisher, not only of racing books but on many other subjects and was the most engaging, humorous and kindly guy. There have been many tributes to him from his wide range of friends. He was a trusted confidant of both Lester and Sir Peter and lived a wonderful life which was so sadly shortened by Parkinsons disease. Fortunately due to his immense talent, his writings will live on for many a decade, especially in the racing world – one in which he was cherished by many.
