Elfride put up a great performance yesterday at Uttoxeter to come from the back of the field in the straight to gain a decisive victory under a fine ride from Sean Bowen.  Having run well in her previous race at Exeter, it was wonderful to see Elfride repay the patience of her connections with such an exciting win.

Sean reported that she jumped well throughout, stayed every yard of the three mile trip and benefitted from the strong pace set throughout.  We will see how she comes out of this race and look at the weather forecast before deciding if she has another run before a well-deserved holiday.

Unfortunately the rain came too early at the track for Organdi and we decided that the ground had softened too much for her and we withdrew her.  She has an option at Newton Abbot on Wednesday but if the going does not suit there, we will have to wait until conditions suit her better.

Fighting Poet ran with great credit at Salisbury on Thursday, finishing fourth under a pleasing ride from apprentice Kaiya Fraser.  Kaiya reported that Poet very much enjoyed the ease in the ground and travelled well into the straight before staying on at one pace.  Hopefully we can find a race over a bit further for him and with luck on our side he will get his head in front soon for his sporting owners, the Richard Phillips Racing Syndicate.  It was great that a few of the members were able to make the afternoon at the Wiltshire track which has always been a favourite for many.

The Richard Phillips Racing Syndicate have another runner with Fine Theatre declared at Worcester tomorrow in the three mile handicap chase at Worcester.  He will wear a tongue strap and cheek pieces on this occasion and Finn Lambert will ride claiming five pounds which will be useful as he carries top weight.  It will be a drop in grade for this fine looking chaser and hopefully the better ground will help his cause.

We have plenty of entries this week with Pop Mistress, Methodtothemagic, Urban Champion, Alright Chap and Shibuya Song all entered up, hopefully a chance or two amongst them.

Jo is going on a much deserved break so there won’t be a blog until Friday.  Please look to our social media for the latest on runners.
