Fighting Poet has been declared in the amateur riders handicap over two miles at Lingfield on Wednesday.  Once again our amateur Ed Mitchell will take the ride claiming seven pounds.  Ed had his first ride on Poet at Wolverhampton on his previous run and this step up in trip should suit him.  Although competitive enough for the grade, Poet has shown enough in his previous races to run well if things go his way.

Corrany jumped a bit too carefully back over fences at Stratford on Thursday and Finn Lambert reported that because of this he could never get into the race and wisely looked after him.  We will run him back over hurdles in a few weeks time as these obstacles seem to suit him better.

Thank you to everyone who came to support yesterday’s Adlestrop Club charity cricket match.  Once again a Phillips XI took on the local side for the Adlestrop Ashes.  The locals retained the trophy but a great deal of fun was had.  Many thanks to the players giving up their Sunday for such a good cause in Racing Welfare.  Richard Johnson and Marcus Armytage were joined by their daughter Willow and son Arty respectively.  Arty won the ‘Mick Barnes Player of the Match’ cup for his excellent bowling and batting.

The match is played in memory of Luke Watson and it was great to have his family attend the match.  Look forward to raising more money for Racing Welfare and the beautiful Adlestrop Cricket Club next year.
