Organdi has been entered at Warwick on Tuesday and we will weigh up the opposition and conditions before deciding whether to declare her on Sunday morning. There has been a nip in the air over the last couple of days and plenty of rugs have been going on the horses as we build them up for an autumn campaign. There is always lots to look forward to at this time of year and the horses continue to look in great condition.
It was great to welcome a group from Restore to visit the yard yesterday. Based in Banbury, they are a charity that supports people with mental health issues to carry out normal day-to-day activities. As it’s National Racehorse Week we thought it appropriate to invite them, as the racehorse is undeniably a great help to mental health. It was wonderful to see everyone interact with the horses, walk round our beautiful village and answer any questions during lunch.
Delighted that many other positive events are going on throughout National Racehorse Week, which is fantastic. Well done to everyone who is supporting the week so well.
Thank you to all those that have been in touch following our open day last Sunday. The feedback has been extremely positive and will undoubtedly give us the impetus to make sure the idea goes from strength to strength.
Today I visited Chris and Claire Bonner’s stables near Lambourn to see a home-bred of Sue Welch’s that will soon be joining the string. A four-year-old daughter of Clovis Du Berlais, we look forward to this attractive mare providng plenty of entertainment in the next season or two.
Sadly I was unable to attend John Salmon’s funeral today. A local bookmaker based in Stow for many years, he was part of Cotswold life for decades. Often attending our Adlestrop Club events including Ladies Day at Royal Adlestrop, he was great company and our sympathies go out to his widow Claire and all his family. There were many stories associated with John which will for years to come, always bring a smile to our face. May he rest in peace.
