Sumatran Tiger ran a wonderful debut for us over hurdles at Stratford on Monday when she finished fourth, beaten just over five lengths by the winner.  Jumping with great fluency, she settled well at the back of the six runner field before challenging in the straight and staying on well after the last.  She loves good ground and hopefully we will find another opportunity for her before the rains come and a step up in trip would suit.

The rains came too much for Fighting Poet at Brighton yesterday.  He came to challenge with two to run before staying on at one pace on the sticky going in the last half furlong to finish a pleasing fourth.  The four pound rise in the handicap for his win in August would also not have helped his cause and hopefully he will come down a pound or two.  He will entered up back at the track next week.

Mostly Mozart was left in the stalls a while due to some unruly horses.  The course did not suit him and we will step him up in trip and also school him over hurdles.

We have declared Dora Vita (pictured) in the 4.05pm at Kempton on Friday where she will make her debut in the six furlong novices stakes for two year old fillies.  William Cox takes the ride and this daughter of Dream Ahead has shown plenty of ability at home and will hopefully enjoy her first experience on the track.  Some of the opposition look very strong but it would be good to find out a bit more about this half-sister to five winners.

This year’s ‘Five to Follow’ competition will have a slightly different look as it will be free to enter (maximum of four entries per person).  The winning prize will be a meal for two at the excellent Kings Head in Bledington.  With plenty of promising types for the coming jumps season and also flat runners to come, it looks to be a fascinating competition for all entries.  For more details on how to enter – visit HERE.
