We have declared Shibuya Song (pictured) at Kempton on Friday evening in the two mile handicap run at 9pm. Once again Kaiya Fraser takes the ride and hopefully the all-weather surface will suit her as she got stuck in the mud at Bath last time. Her previous two runs at Newbury were very satisfactory in the circumstances and this drop in class will hopefully suit.
We have entered Organdi in a chase and a hurdle on Sunday and Monday at Fontwell and Newton Abbot. Will take a look at both races and although both tracks are on the sharp side – the step up in trip should suit her.
I was very pleased to be invited to the BHA Parliamentary reception in the House Of Commons yesterday to celebrate National Racehorse Week 2023. It was a wonderful opportunity to show parliamentarians all the good work going on within the industry, including both equine and human welfare.
With horseracing having a national economic impact of over four billion pounds, the industry is an important part of the fabric of Britain and it was great to see so many MPs being engaged and alert to the needs of the sport.
National Racehorse Week starts on Saturday 9th through to the 17th September and delighted that so many yards, studs and re-training centres are opening their doors along with an enormous amount of community engagement throughout the week. I look forward to the sport developing the concept further in the years to come.
