Methodtothemagic runs today in the 2.53pm at Worcester – a three miles handicap chase. We have changed her training regime as she bled on her last run at Uttoxeter. Hopefully if back to her best she will be competitive in this contest as she certainly has the ability having won impressively this time last year over hurdles. Finn Lambert, who won on her that day, takes three pounds off.
We have entered Ned Cash back at Stratford next week and we have a few targets pencilled in for our summer string in early July whilst the majority of our horses are now on their holidays.
Delighted to be asked to make the key note speech at the Thoroughbred Breeders Association annual conference in Newmarket yesterday. I was asked to speak about the advantages of National Racehorse Week and to emphasise to all within the sport that we should open our doors to showcase the welfare of racehorses from their birth through to their retirement. It is great to see so many studs are opening up for this year’s event which is 7th – 15th September.
It was a very informative day with some excellent speakers on various subjects including equine behaviour, the after care of the racehorse, environmental sustainability and Japan’s extremely successful racing model.
Well done to the TBA for putting this on and I recommend anyone interested in the sport to attend next year’s conference.
