Santa Sabina ran an excellent handicap debut at Hereford on Wednesday, finishing second beaten by a rather well-backed winner.  Making her debut for the Adlestrop Club, she jumped and travelled well before staying on after the last and she looks like giving Club members plenty of fun this winter as long as we can find decent ground.

We have declared The Last Drop in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter on Friday.  We were pleased with her last run on the track and are stepping up in distance here which will hopefully suit her.  We are hoping the ground will be okay but there is a lot of rain forecast and if the meeting were to be in doubt she has other options at Lingfield and Huntingdon on Sunday and Monday.  The mare certainly has the ability to win races and hopefully she will be competitive in this event.  Finn Lambert rides.

We have plenty of entries coming up including Bluenose Belle, Swift Jet and Neeps And Tatties with the latter two entered at Huntingdon on Monday.  Hopefully the ground will suit as all ran well in their last races.  Swift Jet will hopefully be making his chase debut and having pleased us on his recent hurdle run the larger obstacles look made for him.

Last week I was delighted to support the Heros charity race evening at Kempton along with Harry Redknapp and Matt Chapman who are both great supporters of the charity.  Thanks to the generosity of guests and an excellent silent auction, plenty of money was raised for this great cause of which I am proud to be a trustee of.  Both Harry and Matt, like many others in racing, are very keen to support those that help with the re-training of racehorses and especially Heros which does so much for young people as well.

Thursday evening’s Winter Wonderland at Cheltenham in aid of the Hunt Family Fund was a memorable one, as racing and many other sports came together to raise money for charities dear to the hearts of John and Amy Hunt.  Their tragedy has been well reported but the way in which they have both reacted is both remarkable and inspiring.  An evening of entertainment bringing together sporting icons such as Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Anthony McCoy will inspire many others to raise funds and we are delighted that our Question of Sport on 19th February will also be in aid of the charity.
