Bluenose Belle runs today in the 5.50pm at Lingfield – the mile and a half handicap.  She ran an excellent second last time at Kempton and appears in good form since.  Once again Silvestre de Sousa takes the ride and hopefully she will put up another good show for her owner Geoff Lansbury.

Fighting Poet ran an excellent third at Brighton on Monday, beaten a length by the winner.  Travelling nicely for much of the race, he made his challenge in the final two furlongs and stayed on at one pace with three pounds extra on his back for his previous win.

He appeared to handle the rain softened ground but Billy Loughnane believes he will improve for dropping back in trip and we will now aim him back at Brighton next Tuesday for the mile and a quarter handicap.  He’s proving to be a real star for The Adlestrop Club and is a very handsome, charming horse.

Having spent yesterday morning in the paddock, we took him to Birmingham late afternoon to introduce him to an after school club run by the ‘Free @ Last‘ charity – www.freeatlast.co.uk

It was wonderful to introduce him to a group of young people between the ages of 6 and 16 with the majority having never seen a horse previously.  Organised by Great British Racing, we were delighted to be invited to do so during National Racehorse Week and it’s great to see so many other other events taking place to celebrate the racehorse.

It was great to welcome Richard Johnson and daughter Willow to ride out yesterday morning (pictured above).  Richard was 16 when he had his first ride for me and willow is the same age and applying for her amateur licence.  She undoubtedly has plenty of her father’s talent and we look forward to following her career closely.

Richard jumped Smile Back, a new addition to the yard owned by The Somedays Here Partnership and so pleased that Karen Anderson, a member of the partnership was visiting from America to see Smile Back in action.
