A memorable win for Manalishi at Southwell yesterday in the two and a half mile maiden hurdle. Having been placed on each of his runs in the past, it was wonderful to finally get his first win and reward the patience of his fantastic owners, the Richard Phillips Racing Syndicate.
Having to make his own running due to a lack of pace, he jumped well although showed signs of greenness throughout and rallied once challenged by the runner up in the straight to stay on for a pleasing two and a half length victory. Harry Bannister thought there was a lot of improvement in him and would get further in time and has the options of both hurdles and fences in the future.
All at Adlestrop were delighted for Delphi Parkinson who rides him every day and loves him dearly. Whilst Manalishi himself has been through a few trials and tribulations including a flesh eating bacterial skin infection in his younger days that he was lucky to survive.
This son of Malinas is a genuine character and much loved and we look forward to further victories in the season ahead. May he continue to reward the patience of his owners.

Fighting Poet did not have the fast pace he needs to be seen at his best at Brighton last night. Sean D Bowen reported that although travelling well and on good terms with himself, the race turned into a sprint which simply did not suit. We will step him up in trip for his next run and I am sure he will soon be giving the Adlestrop Club plenty of excitement this summer when things are in his favour.
