Bluenose Belle ran an excellent third at Kempton yesterday under Kieran Shoemark.  We held her up on this occasion and she travelled well to deliver her challenge in the final two furlongs staying on well to the line.  She would have been more suited by a stronger pace but it was a pleasing performance and we will now aim to run her over hurdles when conditions suit.

Elfride is declared in the 2.55pm at Chepstow tomorrow – a handicap hurdle over three miles.  Hopefully the galloping course will suit her and once again Harry Bannister rides.  This will be her first run back following a summer break and hopefully she will once again put up a game performance.  She undoubtedly has the ability to be competitive in such events throughout the season.

Sad news of the death of Steve Jobar.  It has been well documented that Steve had been suffering from the dreadful Motor Neurone Disease for several years and he put up a remarkable fight.  His courage and determination throughout the illness was exemplary and thanks to the support of his wife Dot, Steve brought awareness to MND and also raised huge sums to help research and support fellow sufferers.

This year at Newbury there was a great fundraiser where Steve was in attendance communicating through a writing pad showing great character and humour.  His great friend John Francome always commented on how he never heard Steve swear in all the years he knew him.  His positive, practical attitude to his successful riding career and the many talents he pursued following his retirement from the saddle were both remarkable and commendable.

A man the racing world can be proud of.  May he rest in peace.
