All at Adlestrop Stables were truly delighted to see Smile Back win so well at Carlisle in the mares bumper on Sunday. Tech That also put up a very pleasing performance in the novices hurdle finishing an excellent third and will improve for stepping up in trip.
Smile Back remains unbeaten having won her only point-to-point in Ireland. She travelled strongly throughout the race and stayed on well up the Carlisle hill to win impressively under a fine ride by Finn Lambert. Still only four-years-old she has a bright future ahead of her.
Tech That jumped very much like a potential chaser, showing great athleticism having been ridden prominently throughout and stayed on well finishing third behind the well-fancied winner.
He will improve for a truer test of stamina and this athletic five-year-old has lots of potential, especially when going chasing.
Both horses were sourced by Gerry Hogan at Doncaster sales in May, along with part-owner Karen Anderson. Karen was unable to travel over from the US at the weekend but thankfully her co-owners Eustace and Carol Theodore were able to make the journey across the pond and it was wonderful they were able to witness such a special day.
Known as ‘The Someday’s Here Racing Partnership’ they have been great supporters of the yard for many years and it has given everyone at Adlestrop enormous satisfaction to see their loyalty and support rewarded in such a way.
We look forward to coming up with some exciting plans for both horses in the coming weeks and it is satisfying to see so many promising young horses being developed here as we approach 2025.
