Elfride found jumping fences in pretty horrible ground at Uttoxeter on Saturday a bit of a struggle and Toby Wynne quite rightly pulled her up. We will try her again over fences on better ground possibly at Worcester once racing resumes there. In the meantime she will return to hurdles and will aim for Warwick on Friday week.
We have no runners until next week where we have entries pencilled in at Southwell, Wolverhampton, Market Rasen, Huntingdon and Lingfield. We schooled a few over hurdles this morning now that thankfully the frost and rain have receded.
It was great to support the West Berkshire Racing Club’s annual quiz last night at Newbury racecourse. My team of AP McCoy and Richard and Will Venn argued competitively throughout the evening and got beaten a point for second place by the Racing Post. Once again the easy winners were Raceform who I am reliably informed have started revising for next year’s competition already. The West Berkshire Racing Club, like other racing clubs, are a great force for good and it’s always great to support their activities which raise monies for racing charities.
Exciting news today that Idas Boy is guaranteed to get a run in the Grand National with a weight of 10 stone 10. This year’s event is as competitive as ever however Idas Boy has the form to rightly take his place in the great race and the dream is still alive. We look forward to hopefully giving him a run over hurdles beforehand and have earmarked a three mile handicap hurdle at Doncaster on 1st March.
