With lots of rain about, we have decided not to take Shibuya Song to Taunton on Saturday and we will look for some better going for her. She has schooled well since she was a bit too enthusiastic at the third hurdle at Hereford recently and we look forward to getting her on the track again soon.
We have Elfride entered at Uttoxeter on Sunday over a course and distance she has won over previously. Hopefully the meeting goes ahead as planned.
Organdi ran a fine race at Market Rasen on Boxing Day considering the conditions as the ground was stickier than she would like. She jumped extremely well with Finn Lambert onboard and stayed on after the last to be beaten just over ten lengths by the winner. Hopefully we can find some better ground than this on a more galloping track and she certainly looks as though she retains her enthusiasm.
This year’s King George once again produced an extremely exciting contest with Hewick and the in-form Gavin Sheehan getting up close home. With the unseating of Nico de Boinville on Shishkin, it was a race of mixed fortunes in the last two furlongs and proved once again why steeplechasing is such an exciting sport and look forward to 2024 giving us even more.
Today’s Savills Chase at Leopardstown looks a match between Galopin Des Champs and Gerri Colombe. I have been saying for some time that Gerri Colombe looks a Gold Cup winner in the making and he maybe a bit shorter price for the contest after today’s race.
