Lizzie Rey didn’t jump with any fluency today at Warwick and found the pace too hot early on. Finn wisely pulled her up when out of contention half a mile from home. Finn thought we should return to Southwell or head to Worcester with her as those courses have fixed brush hurdles which appear to suit her better. Hopefully there will be plenty of opportunities for her this summer on both tracks.
It was great to welcome a team from the Racing Staff Development Programme led by Sam Trainor to the stables on Tuesday. Five riding coaches attended who are working towards their Level 3 qualification. They watched our team riding on the gallops for two lots before doing individual coaching on a horse simulator. Our staff really enjoyed the experience and always get so much out of these sessions.
Yesterday we welcomed a film crew who are filming for the next series of ITV Champions – Full Gallop. It was wonderful to have several of the Dozen Dreamers syndicate here to watch our Grand National entry Idas Boy on the gallops before a delicious lunch in the village hall.
Fingers crossed and prayers said that Idas Boy looks on course to run at Aintree on Saturday week and hopefully yesterday’s filming will be part of the ITV series as it was a day enjoyed by all. The Dozen Dreamers have been on a great journey thus far and we look forward to it continuing up until the big day.
