Fighting Poet travelled well at Brighton on Tuesday for Delphi on her second ride. They came to challenge in the final two furlongs and stayed on at one pace in a competitive event on ground that would have been fast enough for him.
We have entered Poet at Epsom on Wednesday in the mile and half handicap that he was second in last year and we will see how he is before making a decision to run him nearer the time.
With it being ‘Racing Staff Week’ delighted there was no evidence of food poisoning following our team barbecue last evening. The team were in great form and were delighted to turn up bright and bushy tailed to work this morning. The week is a great initiative and we look forward to supporting it in the future.
Today I went to visit owner Sue Welch to see her broodmares and youngstock. Sue has been a great supporter and we look forward to a four-year-old filly by Linda’s Lad out of Tiger Line joining the string later in the summer (pictured above). Her dam Tiger Line was a particular favourite when she was in training at Adlestrop as she won and was placed on many occasions showing great toughness.
Also very pleased to see Giovanna, now 24 years-old, enjoying a happy retirement on the farm. She won seven times for us and her offspring have won many races. She is still the boss of the field and fortunately her off-spring have ensured that her bloodlines will continue for many generations to come.
