We have declared Idas Boy and The Last Drop at Uttoxeter today. Hopefully the ground will be safe as they usually do a good job at the course.
Idas Boy carries top weight in the open handicap chase run at 5.55pm. He enjoyed himself in the Grand National and this three mile trip may well suit him better. It is a competitive race with plenty of horses in with chances but he appears in good form at home. Adam Wedge takes the ride as Harry Bannister is riding at Punchestown.
After this run he will have a holiday and we look forward to returning him to Aintree in the autumn for the Grand Sefton and the Topham as he appeared to really enjoy those fences.
The Last Drop (pictured) showed plenty of promise in her hurdle runs for us last season and has certainly strengthened up since we purchased her from Ireland. She has been off the track for a while recovering from a joint injury but she has plenty of ability and I am sure she will come on for her come back run today. Ultimately she will probably get a bit further in distance but this looks a good starting point for her.
We have entered Bluenose Belle at Market Rasen on Friday in the two miles, conditional jockeys novices handicap hurdle. The right-handed course should suit her and we look forward to her progressing over hurdles with more experience.
There won’t be a blog now until the end of next week as Jo is away.
