Swift Jet (pictured) runs at Uttoxeter today in the two and a half mile novices hurdle run at 4.10pm. It is a competitive event however the ground should be on the safe side and we are dropping him back to two and half miles in order to settle him better having run over three miles on his last outing. Finn Lambert rides claiming three pounds and hopefully he will continue to progress as we look forward to his future chasing career.
Little Big Kev is declared at Southwell on Monday in the two and a half mile novices hurdle run at 3.30pm with Tom Bellamy onboard. He showed promised on his two previous hurdle runs and we look forward to seeing him getting further experience in this seven runner affair. Similar to Swift Jet, he looks a chaser in the making and hopefully has a bright future once he strengthens further.
Lizzie Rey also runs at Southwell on Monday in the 5.15pm – the conditional jockeys novice handicap hurdle. Finn rides and Lizzie wears cheekpieces for the first time which will hopefully help her to jump more fluently. She definitely has the ability to be competitive in such an event and although she could do with a more galloping track she will hopefully put up a good show for the Adlestrop Club.
It was a truly memorable Cheltenham Festival this week with many high points including culminating in a great victory for Inothewayurthinkin in yesterday’s blue riband. Although crowds were down, the meeting appears to be regaining its ‘soul’ and there is no doubt that top level horseracing has a huge following throughout Britain, Ireland and beyond.
