A great victory for Shibuya Song at Worcester yesterday. Stepping up in trip, the galloping course suited her and she made fine headway when turning for home under Finn Lambert to take it up at the last and stride away for a comfortable success. Finn reported that she was outpaced early on but is very genuine and is laden with stamina and hopefully she can build on this win. Her owners The Firebirds have been very patient and took advantage of the over generous starting price considering her promising last effort.
On Saturday we had a retirement party for Organdi who at the age of 12 and following six victories, is going to pastures new very soon. We purchased her ten years ago along with Beautiful People on an Adlestrop Club trip to France. It was wonderful that we were joined by many of the syndicate and Tash Meredith brought along Beautiful People for the morning. Tash has given BP a brilliant home since her retirement from the track and she was also successful three times on the racecourse.
It was both enjoyable and emotional watching all their victories replayed before a champagne lunch in Adlestrop Village Hall. Organdi will soon be going to Heros – a charity I have been involved with for some time and I am sure she will continue to give pleasure to many in her well-deserved happy retirement.
Roody Toody runs tomorrow in the six furlong handicap at Chepstow run at 3.48pm. She showed some useful form as a two-year-old but got stuck in the mud on her last run and will hopefully enjoy tomorrow’s conditions far better. She has been allowed time to mature and hopefully will be suited by this drop back in trip and will be ridden our new Irish apprentice and conditional Dillon Butler, claiming seven pounds.
Let us hope the stable form continues as we prepare for the beginning of National Racehorse Week which starts this Saturday 7th September www.nationalracehorseweek.uk
