Two runners today with Six Blue in the conditional jockeys bumper at Kempton run at 4.17pm, whilst Bluenose Belle runs on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in the amateur riders mile and a half handicap run at 5pm.

Six Blue is a well-bred daughter of Blue Bresil who has shown plenty at home but disappointed on her debut in a Cheltenham bumper last year.  She has had a wind operation since and hopefully she will settle a bit better on this occasion.  With Finn Lambert not eligible to ride, Harry Atkins takes over who has ridden for us a few times in the past.  Harry started his career at Adlestrop and his mum Vicki rides Six Blue most days.  Hopefully ‘Barbara’ can finish the race off well and reward her owner Colin Pocock for his patience.

Bluenose Belle (pictured) has been doing well over hurdles but we cannot find any suitable ground for her so we have returned to the all-weather today.  This mile and a half handicap is for amateur riders and we have booked the very experienced and successful Simon Walker to ride her.  Hopefully Belle will appreciate the return to a sounder surface and be competitive in this event.

The ground for Little Big Kev is not suitable at present and he will not take up his options this week and we will bring him back for later in the month.

Jilly Cooper’s memorial service at Southwark cathedral on Friday was certainly a memorable event.  The cathedral was packed full of friends and family of a very special person.  The tributes and readings combined with beautiful music and choir was a fitting tribute to someone who made everyone who knew her feel better about life.  Jilly’s remarkable character and work will live on for decades and she leaves us with so many happy memories and was a great friend to us here at Adlestrop.
