Swift Jet (pictured) made a pleasing debut over hurdles in the maiden at Doncaster on Friday.  Travelling well in mid division, he stayed on nicely up the straight to be beaten nine lengths by the winner.  His connections have been very patient with this handsome son of Jet Away and hopefully he looks a decent chaser in the making.

Mattie Ross is showing signs of being in season since her run at Doncaster on Friday which could explain her performance.  However she was not beaten that far in what was a competitive event and the removal of three hurdles in the straight would not have helped her cause.  We look forward to her having a competitive spring campaign with this run under her belt.

Mostly Mozart found trouble in running at Wolverhampton on Saturday and therefore could not build on his recent third on the course.  Hopefully he will have more luck in future and we will probably step him up in trip soon.

We have Willow Edge entered at Wincanton on Thursday however the ground is currently heavy, waterlogged in places and we will decide in the morning on whether to take her there in what looks a very competitive event at this stage.  Hopefully the rain will relent for next week where we have several entries pencilled in.

I was very pleased to attend the RoR Awards at Cheltenham on Saturday and delighted to see Grace Muir and Heros winning the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Community Award.  As a Trustee of the charity, I know this to be well-deserved and look forward to Heros continuing their great work with retired racehorses and young people.

The occasion was a great celebration of how the thoroughbred is so adaptable and I look forward to this message continuing to spread throughout Britain and beyond.
