Totterdown (pictured) ran a pleasing race at Chepstow on Saturday, finishing fifth in what was a very competitive handicap hurdle.  He would prefer softer ground than he came across at the weekend but nevertheless he jumped fluently and with great enthusiasm until being out paced from two out.  We may well now go chasing with him and he looks as though he will continue to give the Adlestrop Club plenty of entertainment in the coming months.

Elfride again would not have liked the ground at Hereford yesterday having travelled so nicely on a softer surface on her previous run.  However over a longer trip and with more waiting tactics, we very much expect her to be competitive in the future and she really enjoys her jumping.

Today I was kindly asked by Brough Scott along with John Inverdale to help raise money for Jamie’s Farm at Plumpton racecourse.  This is an excellent charity giving young people an education in farming and agriculture.  As we know, working with animals can be both rewarding and extremely enjoyable and many young people’s problems have been solved thanks to the charity.

Brough is a dynamo of a human being and having fallen off a pony yesterday, arrived in a wheelchair.  Although eighty years of age, he has the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old in a toy shop and long may everyone’s good work continue.
