With a definite autumnal feel, it was great to get some of the string jumping on the turf last week as we build up for the start of the jumps season proper.  Looking forward to our novices starting their careers over hurdles and they will be having lots of jumping practice between now and then.  With very few summer jumpers this year, we have a larger than normal string for the coming season and there is plenty of potential to realise over the coming months.

Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes I received for last Friday.  I was fortunate enough to once again be invited to the Racing Welfare charity golf day in Jersey thanks to owner Bunny Roberts.  Bunny has been running the tournament for many years and it raises a vital some for the excellent cause.

Delighted to be joined by owners Ed Ware, Mark Little and Charlie Allan on this occasion and although we did not win, plenty of good golf was interspersed with much humour.

On the subject of jump racing proper, the Adlestrop Club is delighted to partner with Venatour Racing for ‘An Evening in Celebration of Captain Forster’ on Wednesday 22nd October at Dunkertons, near Cheltenham.

One of the legends of the sport, his influence goes far and wide and we are delighted Fergal O’Brien, Luke Harvey, Hywel Davies and Graham Thorner have agreed to come along and recount stories both fascinating and funny of their experience of working with ‘The Captain.’

Tickets are available to purchase at £15 per person which to includes a donation to Heros, HERE.
