We have two runners today with Fighting Poet going to Brighton for the 3.42pm and Harbour Haze in the bumper at Worcester at 2.30pm. Poet won well last time out over a slightly shorter trip at the Sussex track but has gone up four pounds for that win. Coming off a strong pace, everything went right for him on his last run but he has a tougher task today. However he appears in good form and hopefully the ground won’t be too soft and he can give Adlestrop Club members another exciting run.
Poet takes on Ricardo Phillips who also won last time out and has the distinction of being named after his trainer’s former assistant. As his handler points out, he has taken a long time to get the hang of things but managed to finally win at Leicester on his run. May the best horse win.
Harbour Haze (pictured) ran well on his debut at Stratford last month when finishing third and hopefully will improve for the experience with more give in the ground today. Harry Atkins takes the ride claiming seven pounds.
Mostly Mozart appeared to cope with the softer ground at Bath on Saturday evening and stayed on well up the straight which was a step up on his recent form. Hopefully we can find similar conditions in the next few weeks and he will be able to build on this performance.
Delighted to attend the Heros Supporters lunch put on by the charity last Thursday. It was an opportunity for all those who have made a contribution to the charity to see the progress it has made and also hear of their plans for the future. I am very pleased to be a Trustee of Heros and Grace Muir and her team are impressively turning around the lives of both humans and horses thanks to their dedication and skill. The Adlestrop Club partly sponsored the event and we look forward to supporting Heros further in the future.
