Dora Vita was unable to take up her engagement at Kempton on Friday due to a slight joint strain. Hopefully we can find something similar for her in November in order for her to make her debut and I am sure she is going to provide a lot of fun for her syndicate The Aspirationals.
Fighting Poet is entered at Brighton on Thursday where he may well take up this entry and hopefully the ground will be more suitable than it was last week.
It was great to welcome plenty of owners to the yard on Saturday morning including members of the Richard Phillips Racing and Old Leightonian syndicates. Much of the string are building up to making their seasonal debuts but like everyone else, we are hoping there is some proper rain soon as the ground does need to be safe before they make their racecourse returns.
With the schooling ground needing some rain we have done plenty of practice in the outdoor school where Finn Lambert has been building up both experience and confidence on many of our novice hurdlers.
Sadly Idas Boy has had to be retired from racing due to a suspensory ligament injury. His journey to this year’s Grand National was memorable for all involved and he gave us a great day. However being such a large horse he has had plenty of niggly injuries during his career and they have finally caught up with him. We look forward to him having a very happy retirement where we are sure he will be much loved.
