It was a great win for Bluenose Belle (pictured) at Market Rasen on Friday following up on her recent Fontwell victory. Travelling well in behind the leaders, she hit the front two flights out before staying on after the last for a convincing win.
Unfortunately Finn Lambert’s manoeuvre turning for home caused interference which led to him picking up a ban and Bluenose Belle suffering an injury to a hind leg which will keep her off the track for a while. This was Finn’s first riding offence in his career and I am sure he will learn from this. However there seems to be plenty of potential for Belle to win more races over jumps once she has recovered as she is a mare that really enjoys her jumping.
Sun Tracker is declared in the 4.55pm at Chepstow tomorrow – a mile and a half handicap with David Probert onboard. He has shown form on the all-weather and this will be his first run on the turf. We have schooled him over hurdles but with the ground drying out we have kept him to the flat for the time being. He has been off the course for a while with a few niggles but we look forward to him getting back on track where the ground will hopefully not be too fast for him.
It was great to spend the weekend in Newmarket for the centenary celebration of The Twelve Club. This historic club which is based around a twelve horses to follow competition, has many fascinating members of which a great number gravitated to Suffolk for the club’s celebration.
For my sins I am chairman of the club but did very little to help organise a brilliant weekend for members which included visits to Juddmonte, Darley, the British Racing School and the horseracing museum. Club members Messrs Haggas, Eustace and Clover gave yard tours whilst on Saturday evening there was a centenary dinner in the Jockey Club Rooms.
Guests were treated to a historical and hysterical interview of three racing legends in Carson, Francome and Prescott by Twelve Club member Hayley Moore. It was a delightful twenty four hours that celebrated our great sport.
