Organdi once again displayed why she is such a popular horse by winning convincingly at Fontwell yesterday under a brilliant ride by Sam Twiston-Davies.
Thanks to some untimely showers, the ground rode on the easy side which does not suit her, however being tough as well as beautiful – she came to challenge the leaders in the straight to run away for her sixth victory for her enthusiastic owners the Beautiful People syndicate. Not surprisingly, she won ‘best turned out’ as well and it was great to have a few members of the syndicate there to cheer her home.
The closing stages of the race can be viewed below:
A timely win indeed as Organdi had enjoyed a massage on Saturday morning during a demonstration from equine massage therapist Rachel Talbot for our open morning for National Racehorse Week.
Around eighty people came to a ‘morning on the gallops’ to see at close hand the incredible care that racehorses receive every day of the year. Many thanks to all who made the morning such a success including Dr George Wilson who gave a fascinating talk on exercise physiology, Grace Muir who along with Dulcie West gave a demonstration of a re-trained racehorse, Tash Seely our veterinary dentist and Jim Pilcher our farrier all giving an insight into their work.
Many thanks to jockeys Tom Bellamy, Johnny Burke and Finn Lambert for both riding work and a jumping session. Whilst Tom’s father Robert Bellamy, with the help of Johnny – gave an insight into jockey coaching on our horse simulator.
With owners and villagers making cakes and serving refreshments, it really was a wonderful community event and thanks to all who made it possible.
