Elfride appeared to have been in season on returning from her race at Hereford on Saturday. She didn’t finish her race as normal and this could well have been the reason why. With the daffodils appearing and the weather getting a bit warmer, this is not uncommon with mares and we look forward to running her when she is not in season.
Little Big Kev (pictured) is declared in the bumper at Huntingdon on Wednesday. We have been searching for some better ground for him and typically it has rained more than forecast at the course over the weekend. However we have declared him in the hope there is not too much more rain and we can let him take his chance.
He showed promise on his point-to-point run in Ireland and hopefully he will show talent in bumpers before going hurdling for his patient owner Ed Ware.
Most of our horses are looking for some better ground but we have entered Totterdown at Huntingdon at the weekend in the hope it doesn’t dry out too much.
Delighted to attend former senior handicapper Phil Smith’s annual Cheltenham Preview at the Fleece in Bretforton last night. The panel included Lee Mottershead, Jonjo O’Neill Jnr and professional gambler Andy Smith.
It is always an informative evening in a beautiful setting raising money for the Injured Jockeys Fund, Racing Welfare and Campden Home Nursing. I have received more information than GCHQ over the last ten days but looking forward to a wonderful festival and hoping all come home safe and sound.
