Elfride is declared at Exeter on Sunday in the two miles five furlong handicap hurdle run at 3.46pm.  Harry Atkins who has ridden her before takes the ride and claims seven pounds.  She will wear cheekpieces on this occasion having worn blinkers on her last run and although this race is possibly short of her best trip, it is a good starting point for her having had a summer break.  She has run well on the course in the past and lets hope she can do so again.

We have plenty of entries for next week with Bluenose Belle, Sumatran Tiger, Smile Back, Little Big Kev and Neeps And Tatties all having engagements.  Hopefully conditions will suit and they can take up their options.

Congratulations to Ed Chamberlain and Brough Scott on winning prestigious awards this week. Ed won the ‘Sports Presenter of the Year’ award at the Broadcast Sport Awards.  Whilst Brough was the recipient of the Daily Telegraph Award of Merit at the Cartier Awards.

Racing should be proud of their achievements and we are lucky to have such skilled presenters representing our sport.  Ed is an extremely enthusiastic supporter of horseracing and although he has not worked at the coal face, he represents many with his questioning and passion.

Brough has for sixty years been an integral cog of the sport, whether it be media – both tv and written, or through is work at the Injured Jockeys Fund, or his ability to transcend many other sports and cultures.
