Urban Champion was unable to take up his engagement at Kempton on Wednesday due to an infected leg which will hopefully heal soon. There is a similar race at Kempton on 6th March and we will aim for that.
The ground will be too soft for Little Big Kev at Southwell on Sunday and therefore we have entered him at Doncaster next week where hopefully it won’t be as soft. He showed plenty of promise on his point-to-point debut in Ireland and we look forward to running him in his first bumper.
Jamie Moore announced his retirement this week. His target was to reach a thousand winners but due to injury he will be just short of that. However he has over a thousand friends in racing due to his wonderfully affable character. The Moore family are one to celebrate as they are all extremely talented, grounded and hard working people who have contributed immensely to the sport. You would not find a more friendly, charming and dedicated character than Jamie and we wish him well in all that he does in the future.
Someone else who has left an indelible mark on the sport is Maureen Mullins who sadly died earlier in the week. I had the pleasure of meeting her on several occasions and she exuded charm, humour and a razor-like brain which she has passed on to many of her children and grandchildren. She was a regular racegoer right up to the end of her ninety-four years and will be fondly remembered by all.
