Weekend Round Up

Tulane ran at Leicester today in his first handicap, with Tom Queally riding due to Timmy Murphy being suspended.  Tom thought he pulled a bit hard early on, before getting outpaced then staying on in the last furlong.  Despite running well on good to soft ground previously, Tom thought good ground would suit better and a step up in trip.  This would explain his run at Salisbury.

I am sure the handicapper will reassess him and it maybe time to geld him before bringing him back for the New Year.  I am sure in his right grade, he will be winning for The Tulane syndicate.

I had an excellent day at Cheltenham on Saturday as a guest of owner Rob Dalziel in the Cheltenham Club.  It is a great facility and it is always great to catch up with many other owners who are members.

Good to take some of the string to Newbury racecourse yesterday morning to give them some experience around the track.  Amongst them were some bumper horses who are due to make their debuts in November including Bella’s Vision, Mighty Elsa and Totterdown.  Quite a few other trainers also took the opportunity to take horses around the track.

Following an early start, it was good to get back in time to attend Ben Leigh’s birthday lunch. It was great to see so many old friends (some of them very old). Ben is a great character who I have known for many years and always had an extensive network of mates in the racing world.

It was good to welcome owner Chris Newport to the yard this morning.  Chris has been a long-term supporter of the yard and is enjoying being part of the Adlestrop Experience with Muthabir.  Muthabir as ever has been running consistently well and will hopefully go to Ludlow next week.

Please don’t forget to enter our Five to Follow Competition if you haven’t already done so.  It starts on Wednesday.  You can enter HERE.
