A beautiful September morning for stepping up the work with the string.  Great to welcome Carol and Paul Mainstone to see Rossbeigh Strand strut his stuff on the gallops.  This Irish point-to-point winner is coming along nicely and we are all looking forward to getting him on the track in a bumper in October.

Colin and Gwenda Pocock came third lot to see Shadow Walker (pictured).  The talented six-year-old has certainly had his niggles but appears in good form at present and we keep our fingers crossed that he can perform on the course as well as he does at home.

An interesting article in the Racing Post yesterday about the life of stable staff in Britain.  Peter Thomas interviewed a few of Richard Hannon’s staff including head lad Tony Gorman.  I’ve known Tony for many years and he made some very interesting points about how the life of stable staff has changed over the last few decades.  Although we live in a hectic world, many of these changes have been an improvement and the sport must never forget how rewarding a job working with horses in a racing yard can be.
