Wednesday 8th February
We have declared Next Lot and Speed Demon at Huntingdon tomorrow. Next Lot wears a hood for the first time in the three mile one handicap hurdle and hopefully he will settle a bit better. Ian Popham rides. Fingers crossed the ground won’t be too soft for him as there are very few other options for him.
Speed Demon wears blinkers in the two and half mile handicap chase and Harry Skelton takes the ride. We don’t think he quite put it all in last time at Leicester, having previously run well at Kempton. He wore blinkers in Ireland and let’s hope this helps him concentrate a bit more. Again he wouldn’t want the ground to be too soft.
It was good to welcome the Fairford Goes Racing syndicate to the gallops this morning, to see their horse Totterdown work under Danny Hiskett. He will hopefully be running in a bumper in a few weeks time and is showing promise on the gallops.
