Good visit to Heros – they do an excellent job

On the way to Lingfield to saddle Golden Deal in the 3.20pm.  Could have done without the overnight rain but hopefully she will come on for her debut at Windsor.

Worked Muthabir this morning in anticipation of entering him for Uttoxeter next week.  His summer holiday was shorter than most as he likes top of the ground.  Ian Popham rode and he appears in good form.

Owners Brian Duckett and Jay Taylor joined us on the gallops this morning and we are gradually stepping up the exercise for our soft ground jumpers.

It was good to visit Heros Racehorse Rehabilitation Centre near Lambourn last week.  Run by my former secretary Grace Muir, Heros do an excellent job at re-homing many thoroughbreds.

It is the shared responsibility of trainer and owner to make sure our horses have a happy life once retired from racing.  It was good to see Seaviper, Top Set, Catkin Copse and Lisheen Hill doing some flat work in advance of finding new homes.  Long may the good work at Heros continue.
