Beautiful People jumped round safely at Warwick yesterday but was outpaced in the final mile on ground that would not have been ideal for her.  A more galloping track would suit and some proper summer ground and hopefully the handicapper will reassess her as we aim for a summer jumping campaign.

A sunny work morning with a few of the string preparing for outings in the next few weeks.  The rains looks as though they might return next week which will suit a fair few of the string.

A very happy birthday to Mick Easterby yesterday who celebrated his 90th with great humour.  A true character, I love my chats with Mick at the sales and I’ve never tired of his one liners which include “I never buy horses, I just steal them.”

Many of us could learn a lesson or two from this remarkable self-made man whose attitude to life, will no doubt allow him to score a scintillating century.

Today Pricewise goes through his selections for the 2000 Guineas and he wouldn’t be far away in selecting One Ruler and Megallan for the race, as last season’s Autumn Stakes form looks good.  The second in that race was Van Gogh who was an eyecatcher as he was slow into stride that day and finished well.  Trained at Ballydoyle he looks value at 20-1, whilst I think Wembley was the horse to take out of last year’s Dewhurst and this stable companion could still be underrated and 9-1 looks value still.
