J Gaye ran a cracker at Southwell last night beaten only half a length by the winner and well clear of the third. Luke Morris reported that she travelled really well on the surface and in hindsight he might have held onto her a bit longer as she appeared to get outstayed in the last half furlong. We will probably drop her back to a mile and a half and hope that she gets her head in front soon.
She is proving to be a real fun filly and hopefully there are lots of races to be won with her on the flat and over jumps eventually.
A busy work morning as we increase the speed on the gallops for many of the string. All seem in good form and looking forward to having some runners over jumps soon.
Owner Sue Welch came to see her four-year-old, Avion go up the gallops late morning. He is an attractive athletic son of Tiger Line who was such a favourite at Adlestrop Stables in the past. We look forward to him emulating his mother and winning for the yard this season.
Once again National Racehorse Day is on the front page of the Racing Post as the idea gains momentum.
